March Note from Pastor Jon

In my first few weeks at First Presbyterian Church I have felt very welcomed by those of you whom I have met after services and at various meetings here throughout the month. I have truly enjoyed speaking with you and am working to put names to faces as often as possible, I am so appreciative of those of you whom introduce yourselves to me time and time again in case I haven’t gotten your name down yet. Thank you for that generosity and assistance!

The staff has been wonderful to work with and I have been very impressed by the dedication I have seen from them. As we meet and work together we are discussing our hopes and dreams for the church and I can say with certainty that each of us feels privileged to be able to serve the church in each of our various capacities. We are here to help each of you in your Spiritual Journeys, please do not hesitate to speak to any of the staff if there is something we can do to aid you in your Christian Journey.

I have seen tremendous love for the church from members of the various committees I have met with. You clearly love your church, and it is exciting to be a part of a church where members feel such passion for the church. It is very encouraging to see people serving in capacities that allow them to serve according to the spiritual gifts they are blessed with.

Each of us has spiritual gifts even though not all of us have worked through the process to identify what those gifts are. I would encourage you to start thinking about where your special gifts and talents might lie, and how you can use them to serve your Lord. This service may be through a ministry that already exists here at the church, or it is possible that there is a ministry opportunity here, not yet realized, especially suited to you that we can help to make happen. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you identify, realize, or empower such a ministry that you might be interested in.

I would like to meet with anyone who would be interested in talking with me about hopes and dreams they have for their church. We could meet at the church, talk over the phone, or go out for a lunch meal sometime. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please call me at the church and let’s setup a time to meet!
