FPC’s Vacation Bible School was a blast!  Granted, it was titled Baobab Blast, but the boys and girls learned so much about love, trust, sharing, following, and caring.  It was done through a Bible story and various arts and crafts, watering hole (food and drink), science, story telling, and games.  Each day the boys and girls had a Bible verse to memorize and homework such as showing someone they cared.   The week culminated by having a short program and picnic on Friday, and having a short program and explanation of what was learned in VBS during the worship service.

Summer-time, Summer-time, Sum Summa Summertime!

Finally, after months and months of could and wind, we finally are entering the warmth of summer.  The children and youth of our church are finding themselves with more free time during the days now that school is out for a few months.   Summer vacations are being planned, as people travel to see family, friends, and new places while revisiting some favorite vacations spots as well.
Seasons come and go in our private lives, and we see seasonal patterns in church as well.  As a result of being raised with summer as a break time when we were younger, sometimes the summer might seem to be a time to take a break in our faith lives.  The lazy days of summer take their toll, however we must remain vigilant and intentional in our faith and not give in to the ways of the world around us.
These months are an exciting time in the church!  Staff and volunteers are planning for a great Vacation Bible School.  Our high-school students are preparing for their mission trip later this month.  The Presbyterian Women are planning to tell us of their exciting mission outreach throughout the month of August.  We are also planning to make major progress on our Sanctuary Carpet project this summer.
We also have great fellowship opportunities as well when you gather together with your church family:  the all church picnic later this month, the ice-cream social early in July, the Presbyterian Women’s mission lunch in August, as well as our annual Rally Day Sunday School kick off at the end of summer.
I am looking forward to the summer of  2010, we have so many great things happening!   I encourage you to join us throughout the summer as we continue to gather in Christian worship, fellowship, and mission.

In Him,
                        Pastor Jon
