The Hands and Feet of Christ
Have you heard these phrases: “Actions Speak Louder Than Words”, and “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is”? These are statements challenging you to show your commitment through action. We all know that we react differently when someone tells us about a cause they believe in, as opposed to when they activelywork with that cause.
We are part of the greatest and most important cause there is: the Church! No other cause hashe eternal impact that ours does: a permanent salvation that is beyond time. Our faith tells us that we cannot stop with our own salvation, our Christian roll is clearly given to us by Jesus’s last command to His disciples:
‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ (Matthew 28: 18-20)
So what does this have to do with actions speaking louder than words? One of the most critical ways of sharing the love of God, given to us through Jesus Christ, is by OUR action. By getting up and DOING the work of Jesus Christ. We Christians around the world are now the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Serving on His behalf, demonstrate to the world what it means to be loved, forgiven, and cherished by our creator. Part of the way we do that is by loving, forgiving, and cherishing others we encounter.
What are some ways that you can be the Hands and Feet of Christ to someone that you encounter today? How can you share the love of God with a stranger? A friend? A co-worker?
We live in a world that is becoming more and more distanced from the Christian faith, you very well may be the only ambassador of Jesus Christ that people encounter. What you do for them can have everlasting benefits. Be the hands and feet of Jesus, that all may know the love of Jesus Christ!
In Him,
Pastor Jon
