Save the date of September 2, 2016 for the First Presbyterian Church NITE OWL Walk through the Hitchcock Wetlands Learning Center for a guided hike through the woods in search of owls. The evening begins with dinner at Sortino’s at 78th and L Streets at 5:45 pm. Everyone is responsible for paying their own food bill. Then we travel to the Hitchcock Wetlands Learning Center. The owl hike will be from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. After a brief presentation by the Fontenelle Forest guide at 7:30 pm, we will begin our walk where the chances of finding and seeing owls in the woods are very good. The trails are flat and handicapped accessible. Please bring a flashlight. Parking is available in the Gifford Farm Parking lot right across the road from the Wetlands Center. The price for the guided hike is $9.50 for adults and $7.50 for children 2-17. Members of Fontenelle Forest are free. Best directions to Hitchcock Learning Center are: 13th Street South to Bellevue Blvd: left on Bellevue Blvd about a mile to Camp Gifford Road. (You go past the main Fontenelle Forest Nature Center Building). Turn left on Gifford Road and follow all the way to Gifford Farm/Hitchcock Wetlands Learning Center.
